Maybe it was the oil...

I can't wait to see the Administration reaction to this one. I almost feel bad for Scott McClellan, what a week to take over for Ari. The Perfect Storm is rising.

File this under "holy shit": there's a reason Cheney was so adamant about keeping the deliberations of the Energy Task Force secret. It wasn't about Enron or ANWAR (although I'm sure they surely had their role), it was about divying up Iraq's oil fields. It really was about the oil.

test, ignore

Not related to this Cheney "revelation", but look what I found. Here's Bush on Iraq:

"Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent," he said. "Since when have terrorists announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike? If this threat is permitted to fully and suddenly emerge, all actions, all words, and all recriminations would come too late."

That, by the way, comes from same SOTU address everyone is discussing these days.

I guess he didn't lie then.

I guess the case for war wasn't based on imminence then.

It wasn't. Read the quote. The threat CAN'T be imminent because we apparently have no idea when they are going to attack. Based on that logic, we have been at imminent threat of attack for the last 10 years at least and forever and ever into the future. Of course we have been at risk of terrorist attack for the last 10 years, are now, and will be in the future, but if that means we have to keep invading countries until this imperceivable imminent threat is somehow perceived to be no longer imminent we're going to run out of countries to invade.

You can't claim a threat is imminent and then claim that the threat is imperceivable at the same time. Imminence implies perception.

Incidentally, Bush is talking about terrorists here, not Iraq.

Further, this has nothing to do with the item we are commenting on.

The Juice is Loose ;)

And good news that is. I can't imagine the two of them were together and Saddam was far away. Hopefully they've either already got him and are holding off until the can confirm or they're hot on his tail.
